![]() ![]() And then after I grew up and started creating games, I was like, this is very similar to what I used to do during my childhood. And at first, the town would be small enough for 10 people to live in, but then I would just keep drawing and drawing and drawing and evolve this town into a city that 500,000 people could live in. So first I would draw the border line for the beach, and then a street, and then a port almost like it was SimCity. ![]() And what I would do is, with a white piece of paper, start drawing a map of an imaginary town. I grew up in a place with a lot of nature around me, so of course I did go outside and play, but I did enjoy playing inside the house. My father had a job selling bulldozers and those kinds of construction machines.Īs a child, how creative were you? What was the main path that led you to games? My father, because of his job, got moved a lot within Hokkaido, so I moved three times during my childhood, and I got to live in three different cities in Hokkaido. My family was five people, three children, and I was the youngest. ( Laughs ) What was growing up in Hokkaido like? What was your family like? I'm from Hokkaido, as you know, so we're both from the north. Northwest Washington state, a little north of Seattle. ![]() So I think maybe we have something in common there. It was in a little anime magazine, and they had a game section, and they had a little article in their game section for Boku no Natsuyasumi, and I saw the pictures and thought oh, this looks great this is right up my alley, because it's pretty and it looks very scenic, and it reminds me of home. Coming from someone who grew up with different animals and horses.I first found Boku no Natsuyasumi in 2000. As much as I enjoy technology I appreciate this slower country life style so much. If I grew up in Japan I do wish I had this experience. I was thinking of comparing this to animal crossing but I feel this is a more mature version of it. I highly recommend this game for all these reasons. More often than not I find myself only using translation when there is heavy Kanji but for the most part I enjoy it as is. My Japanese isn't where I wish it was and although I do understand the language it is still difficult on me to keep up quickly at times. The cleaner Japanese text makes it easy to play today in 2020 thanks to Google Translation app for allowing quick text translations on the fly from phone. So far this game has allowed for other choices in certain scenarios. With ps3 enhancements in HD (720P) upscale to 1440p with mclassic looks fantastic! I haven't gotten around to the psp versions other than the original mix. Such a relaxing game just walking around and enjoying the game. ![]()
